Vintage double knotted root beer colored bead necklace. I tested two of the beads with Wenol, that left a nicotine colored stain on a white paper towel (image 3). I am not an expert, but after much online research, it is my opinion this is Bakelite. I thought it might be amber, but it does not fluoresce. I read one knowledgeable opinion that not all amber does so. The necklace is double knotted, the norm for precious gemstones or pearls. The stringer also used crimp ends and matched the cord with the hue of the beads. I also think they may be restrung.
Approximate measurements: As photographed it measures 16-3/4" long and from end to end, 35" long. As you can see, the beads are different shapes and sizes. There are 4 cubes at 12mm, 17 round beads that measure 12mm to 17mm, 10 rectangles at 24mm and 10 oval at 20mm. Beads are faceted. Approximate weight: 88.6 grams.
